Portrait – John Yau

The Washington Post asked us to produce an animation to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of National Poetry Month alongside 9 other designers.

John Yau’s short poem Portrait is brought to life using shapes, letterforms and a few spare images. It’s a life-cycle, a circle of growth and decay. A memento mori – a remembrance of all we owe those whose words and images we learn from.
